The Bottom Line

There are literally thousands of loudspeakers on the market, and many times the choice, despite all the technical specs, is determined by how they sound to you. If you are looking for new set of bookshelf loudspeakers for your stereo or home theater, and you have never experienced a horn-loaded loudspeaker, then you have to check out the Klipsch Synergy B-3. Despite its modest price and small size, the B-3 really delivers where it counts; sound quality.

Pros

  • Horn loaded combined with bass reflex design provides excellent all around performance.
  • Delivers a full, balanced, and distinctive midrange, without overwhelming the highs and lows.
  • Delivers crisp highs without harshness.
  • Distinct upper bass performance that doesn't muddy out.
  • Heay duty speaker terminals.

Cons

  • Speaker grills difficult to fit on.
  • Should be combined with a subwoofer for use in a home theater system.

Guide Review - Klipsch B-3 Synergy Series Bookshelf Loudspeaker - Short Review

What makes the B-3 really standout is the use of a Horn for the midrange frequencies. Horn technology is highly efficient and durable, which means that such speakers can be used with amps as little as 5 to 10 watts-per-channel, to today's high powered AV receivers.

Whether listening at low or high volume levels, I found that the B-3 delivered clean, clear sound, especially in the mid-range and high frequencies. With music, vocals distinctively standout, and background details don't get lost. Although it doesn't deliver the lowest bass frequencies, its bass reflex design delivers powerful upper bass that is clear and not muddled.

I found the Klipsch Synergy B-3 compact loudspeaker is equally at home in a modest two-channel stereo system or as part of the larger home theater system with the addition of a subwoofer. Although Klipsch also sells companion center and surround sound channel speakers with slightly different designs, 5 or 7 B-3s can be used in a surround configuration, if positioned properly.

There are bigger speakers, there are more expensive speakers, and there are better speakers at higher prices. However, the Klipsch Synergy B-3 proves that a good speaker doesn't have to be big or expensive.

Don't get caught in the trap that most persons starting out in audio or home theater do; don't settle for bargain basement loudspeakers. Before making your final loudspeaker purchase choice, I highly recommend that you give the Klipsch Synergy B-3 a listen.

Great sound, great value., Member Rob1221

Just installed these speakers in a large great room. It's at my mother's house so it was a simple 2 speaker system. No subwoofer, no surround sound. I was worried that there would not be enough bass. The room has a 25 foot ceiling. Afterall, these speakers are only $300. I compared them to the Bose 310. Wow, was I surprised. The Klipsch just blew them away. The sound was superb. I paired these with an inexpensive Yamaha 550W receiver ($219.00). The Yamaha receiver has everything, including HDMI switching (2 input ports), 5.1 surround sound, and an optional iPod dock (not necessary with the front input headphone plug). This proves that you do not need to spend $1000's on a great sounding system. I will be buying these for my home surround sound system as front speakers. The horns in these are stellar!
