Anthony Gallo Speakers use a spherical housing for each speaker. By combining several spherically-housed speakers with a unique tweeter design, Gallo has come up with speakers that deliver where it counts - sound quality.

Product Overview - AV Reference Center Channel Speaker

1. Frequency Response: 55Hz to 35kHz (upper bass to well beyond human hearing)

2. Sensitivity: 88dB (represents how loud the speaker is at a distance of one meter with an input of one watt).

3. Impedance: 4 - 8 ohms (can be used with amplifiers that have both 4 or 8 ohm speaker connections)

4. Power Handling: 150 watts RMS (continuous power), 300 watts peak (power over short intervals).

5. Drivers: Four 4” carbon fiber with neodymium magnets.

6. 2 Outer Woofers Cover: 100Hz and down (reproduces the lower bass frequencies) 7. 2 Inner Woofers Cover: 3kHz and down (reproduces the primarily the midrange frequencies).

Setup - Hardware

Anthony Gallo speakers used included: 1 AV Reference Center, 2 AV Reference Mains, 2 A'Diva T's for surrounds, and 1 TR-2 Subwoofer.

Receivers and Preamp/Amp components used to power the Gallos included: Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (using 5.1 channel mode), Yamaha HTR-5490 6.1 Channel AV receiver (using 5.1 channel mode), Outlaw Audio Model 950 Preamp/Surround Processor (using 5.1 channel mode) paired with a Butler Audio 5150 5-channel power amplifier, and a Sherwood RV-5050R Pro-Logic Receiver.

Other speakers used in comparison setups with the same Receivers and Preamp/Amp components: 2 Klipsch B-3s, Klipsch C-2, 2 Optimus LX-5IIs, 2 JBL Venue Series 5" Monitors, Yamaha YST-SW205 and Sony SA-WM250 Powered Subwoofers, and additional speakers, in both matched and mismatched setups were used.

A Radio Shack Digital Sound Meter was used to calibrate speaker output levels.

Audio signal source components included: Samsung DVD-HD931 DVD Player and Helios X5000 DVD/Media Player, as well as a Toshiba HD-XA1 HD-DVD player and a Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray Player.

CD-only Player sources included: Technics SL-PD888 and Denon DCM-370 5-disc CD Changers.

Connections between components were made with Accell, Cobalt, and AR Interconnect cables, as well as 16-gauge speaker wire all-around.

In addition, although not a factor in measuring speaker performance, the two video displays used in home theater setups were a Westinghouse Digital LVM-37w3 1080p LCD Monitor, and an Optoma H56 Video Projector

Setup - Software

HD-DVDs used included: Serenity, Phantom of the Opera, The Last Samurai, Million Dollar Baby, Swordfish, Blazing Saddles, and The Italian Job.

Blu-ray Discs used included: Into The Blue, Ultraviolet, XXX, Underworld Evolution, House of the Flying Daggers, and Stealth

DVDs included scenes from the following: Kill Bill - Vol1/2, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Hero, Master and Commander, Moulin Rouge, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, U571, and The Mummy,

Various CDs included: Heart - Dreamboat Annie, Nora Jones - Come Away With Me, Lisa Loeb - Firecracker and The Very Best of Lisa Loeb, Blue Man Group - The Complex, The Brian Setzer Orchestra - The Ultimate Collection, Telarc - Eric Kunzel/The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra - 1812 Overture.

DTS-DVD (audio only) discs included: Queen - Night At The Opera/The Game, Eagles - Hotel California, Sheila Nicholls - Wake, Alan Parsons - On Air, Blue Man Group - The Complex, and Medeski, Martin, and Wood - Uninvisible. Also included: The Corrs - In Blue (Dolby Digital). In addition, music content on CD-R/RWs were also used.
