One thing I found curious, was that part of the presentation (both at the Blu-ray booth and the press conference) centered on the interactive features being implemented in new Blu-ray Disc players, refered to as Profile 1.1, 2.0 (BD-live and Duo-View), as if these features were adding something for the consumer that they didn't have access to before. It seems that they forgot to mention that such features are already required in all HD-DVD format players that have been on the market for almost two years. In addition, those that own first generation Blu-ray Disc players will not have access to these features as they require the players to have ethernet ports and dual video processors, which are already included in all HD-DVD players from their initial release.
Of course, all that being said, the Warner announcment, plus the continuing disparity in sales between Blu-ray and HD-DVD in both hardware and software, does give Blu-ray a decided advantage at this point in time which the HD-DVD camp will find difficult to overcome in a competitive marketplace.
