In addition to its breakthrough in panel thiness, shown in the previous photo, Pioneer also presented a prototype Plasma set that was capable of producing absolute Black. The implications of this advance were quite obvious when seeing the set in operation: Unlimited contrast ratio, increased color depth, and complete blackness on the screen when no signal is present. In a darkened room, the image actually looks like it is floating on the wall. Although I have included a photo here, it doesn't show the full impact of the images that were shown.

The advancements in both styling and technology presented by Pioneer at CES 2008 are part of the KURO project and are expected eventually be included in Pioneer's KURO Plasma TV lineup. However, no product release dates or pricing was provided.
