In essence, this receiver will allow the user to use a single receiver as the control center for two home theater systems. The fun doesn't end there, however. If you desire a little more flexibility, you can configure the AVR-5805 as a 9.1 channel receiver for single room use, or use this unit to supply a 7.1 channel feed to your main home theater room and still have the ability to have both a 2.1 channel system in another room, and a mono system in a third, all running simultaneously. In addition, according to Denon, the 5805, with the addition of external amplifiers, can actually control two 7.1 channel systems simultaneously. The 5805 also allows for Bi-amping functions.
In addition to its revolutionary assignable amplifier setup, the 5805 also has video upconversion for all analog video inputs as well as both HDMI and DVI inputs. This unit definitely has more analog and digital AV inputs and outputs that any else I have seen. This is amply illustrated in the rear panel photo of the unit above. Basically, all the 5805 needs is a button to start the popcorn popper!
The AVR-5805 is definitely not a light-weight, at 97 pounds and a $6,000 MSRP.
