Here are some functions that RoxioNow is capable of that are worth taking an extra note on.
First, RoxioNow can be used on a variety of devices including: TVs, Blu-ray Disc players, PCs, Game consoles, and mobile devices, such as phones.
Another interesting feature of RoxioNow is the ability to integrate e-commerce in very practical ways.
For example, I was shown a scenario where you buy a DVD or Blu-ray Disc. You insert the disc into your Blu-ray Disc player and a menu pops up first asking if you want a digital copy of the disc so you can play the digital copy of the movie on a home network or portable device.
Another scenario is, let's say you insert the disc "The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" DVD or Blu-ray Disc into your player. When you do, your Blu-ray Disc player might ask you if want to purchase the other two films in the trilogy as digital copies.
An additional scenario is, you go to your local Best Buy, you pick out a Blu-ray Disc or DVD and when you get to the register, the clerk scans the UPC code and up pops additional related purchase options, such as adding a digital copy, or even additional merchandise or special offers related to the DVD or Blu-ray you are buying.
To sum it all up, RoxioNow provides the extensive virtual infrastructure that provides a way for studios, content providers, and manufacturers to easily and profitably distribute product directly to consumers via the internet, and for consumers to easily access content from a variety of sources.
