Guide Review - OPPO Digital LT-2007 20-inch LCD-TV DVD Player Combination

The LT-2007 is very stylishly designed with a tiltable screen and a base that houses a hidden DVD player and speakers. Controls are accessible via both the TV and remote control. The rear mounted AV hookups make it very easy to connect the rest your components, as well as a PC.

This unit has a fair sounding internal speaker system. However, it is a good thing that the LT-2007 has a coaxial digital output for connection to a home theater system.

The LT-2007's DVD player section offers very good progressive scan performance. The resulting image on the 800x600 pixel screen is surprisingly better that I expected. The color is excellent, with no overblown reds. In addition, I found the picture contrast and brightness to be very good for an LCD set of this size. Be aware that the LT-2007 has 4x3 aspect ratio screen, so widesreen DVDs will be letterboxed accordingly.

The onscreen menu functions are easy to navigate and the remote was easy to use. However, it would have been nice to have a backlight function on the remote.

The video performance on signal feeds, such as broadcast/cable reception or standard VHS input, is actually comparable, to my eye, to many 20-inch tube sets.

The LT-2007 has a $599 price tag. It offers excellent performance, lots of features, and great styling. The LT-2007 represents the strides being made in LCD TV. If you are considering a compact TV/DVD combination unit for your office, bedroom, dorm, or other small space, check out the LT-2007.
