Guide Review - Westinghouse Digital LVM-37w3 37-Inch LCD Monitor Featuring 1080p - Short Review
All controls are accessible via both the monitor and remote. Onscreen menu functions are easy to navigate. The side mounted AV, DVI, and HDMI hookup options make it very easy to connect the rest your components.
I found the variable backlight settings enabled optimum screen brightness in a variety of ambient light environments.
This unit has a good sounding internal speaker system.
The LVM-37w3 shines with its great HD performance via Component, DVI, and HDMI input options. Featuring both 1080p upscaling and 1080p direct input capability, all HD sources look excellent, especially from Blu-ray Disc and HD-DVD. Standard DVD (whether a normal player or upscaling player) also looks very good.
However, there are drawbacks to the LVM-37w3. The performance on low-res signal feeds, such as standard broadcast/cable (external tuner required) or VHS input is lackluster. Although having a very bright image, a better contrast ratio would improve black level performance. The picture adjustment settings are limited; there is no independent adjustment for Red, Green, and Blue, but color and tint can be customized for each input source.
The LVM-37w3 is a winner with 1080p display capability. Check out the LVM-37w3, especially if you have a Blu-ray Disc, HD-DVD, upscaling DVD player, or are on HD-Cable or HD-Satellite.
