1. Using a Helios H4000 DVD Player the output resolution was set to 480i and the composite video output of the player was connected to the matching composite video input on Optoma HD20. The reason that the composite video output option on the DVD player was used to was to provide the most basic 480i input signal to see how well the HD20 can deinterlace the signal to 480p and then upscale the result up to 1080p for screen display.
2. I inserted a Silicon Optix HQV DVD Benchmark test disc in the DVD player and ran through a series of tests designed detect the deinterlacing and scaling ability of the Optoma HD20.
