Pictured on this page is the audio system used for this review. From top to bottom, the system includes an Outlaw Model 950 7.1 Channel Preamp-Processor and Butler Audio Model 5150 5-Channel Vacuum Tube Hybrid Power Amplifier. In addition, to power the rear back channels, a Crown D75 2-channel power amplifier was employed, which is pictured at the bottom of this photo.

Outlaw Audio Model 950

The basic features of the Outlaw Audio Preamp include:

1. Audio Features: Dolby Digital EX, Pro Logic II, DTS-ES, Neo:6, Cirrus Extra Surround (provides 7.1 channel extension), 6-channel analog inputs for SACD/DVD-Audio application, and input bass management control, all the analog and digital inputs you need (minus a dedicated phono input)/

2. Video Features: Composite, S-Video, and component video switching (HDTV compatible).

3. Additional Features: AM/FM tuner, remote control, and onscreen menus. As a final bonus, the 950 also has the ability to output a second zone stereo signal to an auxillary two-channel amplifier. This enables the preamp to supply an alternate source that can be accessed in another room at the same time the preamp is being used in the multi-channel mode in the main room.

Butler Audio Model 5150

The basic features of the Butler Audio Model 5150 consists of a 5-channel power amp with separate power modules that feature line input and speaker output for each channel. Its unique internal design features one 6SL7GC dual triode tube for each channel within the output stage to provide true analog sound. This feature eliminates need for traditional output transformers. Power output is 150 Watts-Per-Channel RMS with a THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) at less that 0.10%.

The 5150's simple front panel design consists simply of the main On/Off Switch and grill work that allows Butler Audio's trademark blue glowing tubes to be visible during operation.

Crown D75

The basic features of the Crown D75 consist of a two-channel power amplifier with 35 watts-per-channel output at a THD of .05% from 20HZ to 20KHZ, both channels driven. Separate Gain controls for each channel. Front mounted headphone jack included.
