Flat panel televisions are quickly becoming quite commonplace on store shelves and in consumers' homes. Although Plasma TVs seem to be be getting a lot of attention in this area, the LCD television is actually making a bigger impact with consumers. 1. Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9 32-inch LCD TV
The KDL-32XBR9 offers a 32-inch 16x9 LCD screen with a native pixel resolution of 1920x1080 (1080p), 120Hz screen refresh rate, and an extensive array of analog and AV inputs and outputs, including 2 HD-component, 4 HDMI ver1.3, and a PC monitor input. The KDL-32XBR9 also features both NTSC and ATSC (HDTV) tuners that comply with the coming digital-only TV broadcast switchover. Also, if you don't have an external audio system, the KDL-32XBR9 features a 10 watts x 2 amplifier with SRS TruSurround XT audio processing. I can say that this set definitely lives up to Sony's XBR standards. If you are looking for high-performance HDTV is modest screen size, definitely consider the Sony KDL-32XBR9 as a possible choice.
2. Samsung LN-32A450 32-inch LCD Television
The Samsung LN-32A450 is a 32-inch 16x9 LCD television sporting a native pixel resolution of 1366x768 (suitable for HDTV), enhanced contrast ratio processing (10,000:1), and a respectable 6ms response time. LN-32A450 has all the inputs you need including 3 HDMI, 2 HD-compatible Component video inputs, a PC VGA input. Its ATSC/QAM tuners allow both over-the-air and unscramble cable reception of HDTV signals. This set also includes SRS Tru-surround XT which provides a basic surround sound environment from the on-board stereo amplifier and two side mounted speakers. The color and contrast on this set is very good. If you are shopping for a flat panel television in the 32-inch size range, check out the Samsung LN-32A450 as a possible choice.3. Toshiba REGZA 32RV530 32-inch LCD Television
The Toshiba 32RV530 is a fully-equipped 32-inch LCD television. With a native pixel resolution of 1366x768, this set is suitable for watching HDTV, Upscaled DVD, and Blu-ray Discs. In addition, the 32RV530 has an impressive number of inputs, including 4 HDMI, 2 HD-compatible Component video inputs, and PC VGA input. Its NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuner allow access to standard and high definition signals from both over-the-air or unscrambled cable. For audio, this set includes a "soundstrip" thin profile speaker system that sounds good for an onboard speaker system. At 32-inches, the Toshiba 32RV530 provides are great viewing experience in small or average size room. If you have a 27-inch analog tube set, consider upgrading to a 32-inch LCD set.4. VIZIO VU37L 37-Inch LCD Television
Vizio is the most aggressively priced, and sucessful TV brands in the U.S.. Their strategy is to sell through warehouse stores, such as Costco, Sam's Clubs, and discount stores. Although their sets are very inexpensive, in comparison with the competition, they do offer a quality product. The VU37L 37-Inch LCD TV features 1366x768 (768p) native pixel resolution, a 5,500:1 contrast ratio, a 6.5ms response time, and up to 1080i input signal compatibility. This set also has supplies 3 HDMI inputs and a PC monitor output. If you are looking for a medium sized LCD television, definitely include this set on your shopping consideration list. The Toshiba 32AV500 is a great LCD TV to consider. With a 32-inch screen size, 16x9 aspect ratio, 1366x768 (768p) native resolution, and wide viewing angle, this set provides a good, viewable image. In addition, its 2 HDMI inputs, 2 HD-compatible Component video inputs, PC VGA input, and ATSC/QAM tuner allow access to high definition signals from a variety of sources, including 1080i sources, such HDTV broadcasts (Note: 1080i signals are scaled down to 1366x768 for screen display). Note: The 32AV500 does not accept 1080p input signals. For audio, this set includes a "soundstrip" thin profile speaker system that provides decent sound. The Sharp LC-32D64U is an LCD televsion in the popular 32-inch diagonal 16x9 screen size. This set is has full 1080p high resoltuon display capability (1920x1080 native pixel resolution - this is unusual in a 32-inch set), a real world 2000:1 contrast ratio, and a built-in ATSC tuner for reception of over-the-air digital and HDTV signals . A QAM tuner is also included, which allows reception of Digital and HD cable signals (except for premium or pay-per-view channels). The LC-32D64U also has 2 HDMI inputs to can connect to a Upscaling DVD player, Blu-ray Disc player, or HD cable or satellite box, as well as VGA input for your PC. With its high native resolution, the images on this set are very detailed.7. LG Electronics 32LG30 32-inch LCD TV
LG has a great reputation making stylish, and excellent peforming, LCD PC monitors, but they are also heavily invested in both LCD and PlasmaTelevisions. The 32LG30 is 32-inch LCD TV that delivers great images with its 1366x768 native pixel resolution, and a stated 12,000:1 contrast ratio. Also included are two rear and one front mounted HDMI inputs, PC monitor input, and both ATSC and QAM tuners for over-the-air and unscrambled HD cable signal sources. On the audio side, the 32LG30 incorporates "Clear Voice Technology", which insure clear dialog when sound effects get louder, and "Invisible Speakers" , which conceals the speakers within the TVs frame bezel. If you are looking for a TV with both style and substance, check out the LG 32LG30.8. Westinghouse Digital LVM-37W3 37-Inch LCD Monitor Featuring 1080p
With many LCD Televisions offering 720p (1280x720 or 1366x768) native pixel resolution, an LCD monitor with (1920x1080) 1080p capability is a significant advance, especially with street price of less than $1,600. In addition to 1080p processing and input capability, the LVM-37W3 features 6 HD inputs, including 1 HDMI , 2 DVI-HDCP, 2 Component, and a hi-res VGA PC monitor input. Note: An external tuner is required to receive standard or HDTV signals.9. JVC LT-37X688 37-Inch LCD Television
The LT-37X688 is a good example of JVC's approach to LCD television technology. Featuring a 37-inch screen, 1080p native pixel resolution, and 1,300:1 contrast ratio, this set delivers detailed image that is large enough for most living rooms. In addition, features such as two HDMI inputs, USB photo viewer, and ATSC/QAM tuners provide access to a variety of program sources. The LT-37X688 also features nine aspect ratio settings, allowing you to view both 16x9 and 4x3 programming according your own taste. On the audio side, this set is great if you don't want the hassle of a home theater system as it features a decent speaker speaker system backed up by a 10wpc amplifier. One reported drawback, however, is its slow start-up time.
