What Do You Like About This Component? Cost, Upconversion of standard DVD's, Hi-Def playback of HD-DVD movies, Ethernet connectivity (Firmware & HD-DVD ethernet-based extra's), 5 free HD-DVD movies.
What Don't You Like About This Component? Nothing specific.
Why Did You Choose This Component Over Other Models? Cost,Perfect fit for my viewing system. Does standard DVD upconversion much better than the Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD recorder I also own, even though the HD-A2 lacks the Silicon Optix chip in it's more expensive sibling. Since my Sony KV-34HS420 max's out at 1080i resolution, I didn't need it's 1080p cousin. P.S....I'm using the HDMI output on both the HD-A2 and Panasonic units. The system was calibrated using the Avia & Joe Kane's Video Essentials optimizing DVD's.
Would You Buy This Component Again? Yes. Exactly the fit I needed for my viewing system: Sony KV-34HS420 wide-screen television (1080i max resolution), Harman/Kardon AVR 335 reciever, Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD recorder/VHS player (with up-converter & digital tuner), Eosone RSF-400 main speakers, Eosone RSC-300 center channel speaker, PolkAudio FXi30 left & right surround channel speakers, Infinity IL100 powered subwoofer, Harmony SST-659 universal remote.
