The Good Guys Become "The Good-Bye Guys"
The demise of The Good Guys is not unexpected. The retail chain has had financial difficulties in recent years and has faced fierce competition from both Caifornia-based Fry's Electronics, with its huge mega-stores, and Minnesota-based Best Buy, the largest consumer electronics chain in the U.S., which has aggressively moved into the Calfornia market. Add the growing influence of Wal-Mart, and even Costco, to the consumer electronics mix, and smaller chains, such as The Good Guys, have increased trouble competing in such an enivronment. The Good Guys isn't the first consumer electronics chain to go out of business, and it won't be the last. Other retailers are sure to take notice with an eye as to whether they may be next in line to have to bite-the-bullet and call it quits as the big-box retailers continue their expansion frenzy.
