Yamaha to Introduce New AV Receivers with iPOD Compatibility

Tuesday March 7, 2006
Jumping on the iPOD bandwagon, Yamaha is introducing a new line of AV Receivers that feature iPOD connectivity, via an optional docking station. In addition, all the AV receivers in the line-up offer built-in XM Satellite Radio tuners (subscription required), as well as a new audio enhancement: XM HD, which delivers 5.1 channel surround on available XM broadcasts.

In addition to iPOD connectivity and XM-HD, the RX-V659 ($549.95) also features an amplifier section that delivers 100W x 7 RMS, 192 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converters for all seven channels, YPAO room setup optimizer, Center channel equalizer, HD-compatible component video inputs and output, as well as video composite - S-Video - component video conversion, and even a dedicated phono turntable input.

For additional details on the RX-V659 and the other two models in the line up: the RX-V559 amd RX-V459, check out Yamaha's announcement posted by Best Stuff.com.
