1. Starting on the top left is the Audio Select Button. This allows the user to select what type of audio source is to be accessed for a specific input. The choices are: Auto Detect (default), HDMI, Coax/Optical, or Analog.
2. Moving to the right of the Audio Select Button are Tone Control and Record Out/Zone 2 Buttons, which are, in turn, controlled by the larger Program Selector. When the Tone Control button is pushed, the Program Selector can adjust the bass/treble characteristics for the front three channels.
When the Rec Out/Zone 2 Button is pushed, the Program Selector allows the user to select which source will be sent to an Audio Cassette or CD Recorder or the source that is to be listened to in Zone 2. When the Tone Control or Rec Out/Zone 2 functions are not being used, the Program Selector functions to select the Digital Sound Field Programs (DSP), such as Classical, Live/Club, Entertainment (Game, Music Video), Movie (Spectacle, Sci-Fi, Adventure, Drama, and Mono Movie), and Stereo (2 Channel or 7 Channel). These soundfield are used to complete Dolby Digital, DTS, or Analog signal sources.
3. Moving to the right, at the top, the A/B/C/D/E category button is used to set AM and FM channel presets, which are then accessed by the Preset/Tuning/Channel Selector.
4. Just below the A/B/C/D/E Category Button is the Straight/Effect Button, this toggles back and forth between DSP (Digital Sound Processing) signals and non-processed signals.
5. Moving further down is the YPAO Optimizer Microphone Input. This is where you plug in the provided microphone in order to do the automatic speaker setup functions.
6. Moving right, on the bottom, are the Headphone and Video Auxiliary inputs. The Video Aux input includes both S-Video and Composite video Connections, as well as both Analog and a Digital Optical Audio Connection. In addition, to the right of the Optical connection, is a USB port, which is used for playing back music stored on USB memory devices or Digital Audio Players.
7. Above the Video Auxiliary inputs are the Multi-Zone Controls.
8. Finally, at the top right are the Enhancer and Night buttons. The Enhancer button helps to eliminate digital audio artifacts from sources, such as MP3. The Night Listening Button activates several listening modes designed to provide a better listening experience at low volume levels.
