This page shows the actual demonstration setup of the Smyth Virtual Surround Headphone Technology. The speakers shown were simply used for comparison and were not used as part of the demo itself. The test subject is listening to 5.1 channel source material via Stax Headphones connected to the Symth Virtual Surround Headphone Processor, coupled with Crowson Tactile Transducer actuators mounted underneath the couch to enhance LFE effects.
I had a chance to also check out this demo and was very impressed. I really did feel that I was listening to the loudspeakers, instead of the headphones. This is defintitely a product to watch for, perhaps as early as later this year or sometime in 2008.
