The Darblet is a very compact video processor (the small silver box on the stand just below the center of the TV) that has the ability to elevate the video performance any TV with an HDMI input.
Shown in the above photo is a split-screen example of what the Darblet can do. On the left side of the image the video is internally processed by the TV, while the right side shows the added effect of the Darblet - notice the difference in the detail on the rocks and the arms and legs of the Nav'i (click on the photo for a larger view).
What makes the Darblet different is that instead of using upscaling and edge enhancement, which can cause artifacts, the Darblet manipulates color, shadow, contrast, and brightness on a localized basis in real time. The result is that displayed images appear to have more depth and detail, without adding anything that isn't already there. The Darblet is also 3D-compatible, and is user adjustable for your preference.
