Starting with the top left is the RS232C Serial Cable Connection. This connection allows the PT-AX100U's functions to be controlled via a PC. This is a very practical connection option for use in business, or other types of, presentations where the presenter is some distance away from the video projector itself.
Moving to the right, is the HDMI. This connection allows the connection of a component with HDMI or DVI connections (such as an HD-Cable or HD-Satellite Box, DVD, Blu-ray, or HD-DVD Player, to the PT-AX100U. Components with DVI connections can be connected to an HDMI connection via a DVI-HDMI adapter cable.
Continuing to the right, next to the HDMI connection, is the PC-in or VGA. This connection allows the PT-AX100U to be connected to a PC or Laptop Monitor output. This is great for computer games or business presentations.
To the right of the VGA connection is the HD-Component connection. This connection is represented by separate Green, Blue, and Red Cables and is the most common connection used by standard DVD players. It is also available on other source components as well. These connections can transfer either standard or high definition Interlaced or Progressive Scan signals.
Just to the right of the HD-Component video input is the S-Video and, just below the S-Video Connection, sits the Composite Video inputs.
Both the S-Video and Composite Video connections are analog standard resolution connections. This means that only non-HD interlaced video signals can pass through these connections. The standard definition signals are then upscaled by the PT-AX100 to view on the screen. However, the quality of the scaling results depend on the quality of the input signal. For example, VHS, whether delivered via Composite or S-Video will not look as good as DVD signals delivered via Component or HDMI connections. Although the scaling may improve the VHS signal somewhat, it will also magnify some of the defects in the VHS signal.
Any standard video source, except RF sources, can be connected to this projector.
